Classical music recitals in Chiang Mai, Bangkok

French violinist Vadim Tchijik and Japanese viola player Asuka Yamamura will give a duo recital at the AUA Language Centre in Chiang Mai today before heading down to Bangkok to perform at Siam Ratchada Music on Thursday. Both concerts will start at 7.30pm.

Presented by D&M Music Studio, the programme will call for Tchijik to perform a number of violin solos including Bach’s Chaconna from the Second Partita, Paganini’s Caprice No. 9, Kreisler’s Recitativo and Scherzo (Opus 6) plus Ysaye’s Sonata No.3.

Yamamura will join him in the second half of the recital for a rendition of Mozart’s Duo For Violin And Viola
No.1 and Handel-Halvorsen’s Passacaglia For Violin And Viola.

The 38-year-old Tchijik has won prizes in several prestigious international violin competitions and performed with many orchestras around the world. He is currently professor of violin at Niedermeyer Conservatory in Issy-les-Moulineaux, a suburb or Paris, and regularly gives masterclasses in both Europe and in Asia.

The 24-year-old Yamamura carried off first prize at the Yokohama International Music Competition. She has
performed throughout Japan with various orchestras and chamber music groups.
