UK pianist in Lat Phrao recital

Philip Fowke, a distinguished pianist from the UK, will give a recital in Bangkok on March 30.

Philip Fowke will perform at Sala Sudasiri Sobha on March 30 at 4pm.

Presented as part of the “Sunday 4 O’Clock at Sala Sudasiri Sobha” concert series, organised by the Gift of Life Foundation, the concert will be an opportunity to hear Fowke play Sonata In F by Haydn and a variety of pieces by Chopin.

The second half of the programme will be devoted to “The Art of Encore”, music associated with some of the great pianists of the past. In addition to compositions by Dohnanyi, Grieg, Moszkowski, Paderewski, Rachmaninoff and Sinding, some lesser known gems will also be included.

Known for his many BBC Promenade Concert appearances, numerous recordings and broad repertoire, the 64-year-old Fowke has appeared in many of the major concert halls worldwide. He most recently performed at the Cheltenham Festival in the UK, at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and gave a solo recital at Fairfield Hall in London.

He is currently senior fellow of keyboard at Trinity College of Music and is recognised for his teaching, coaching and tutoring in which he enjoys exploring students’ potential, encouraging them to develop their own individuality.

Tickets for the Bangkok concert will cost 500 baht. Seats are limited. Proceeds will go towards the Gift of Life Foundation to help needy patients suffering from blood diseases.
