The garden of Alliance Francaise Bangkok will become a dance floor filled with the beat of Madagascan percussion by Bloco Malagasy this Thursday.

Bloco Malagasy is bringing the sound of Madagascar to the capital.

Presented in collaboration with the Consulate of Madagascar to mark the international Francophonie Day, the “Bloco Malagasy in Concert” will be an opportunity to eat and drink outdoors while exploring Madagascan traditional arts and crafts to the lively tunes of the Bloco Malagasy troupe.

The performance is part of their tour in Asia and the special evening will run from 6.30pm-11pm.

The drumming group consists of 25 percussionists who blend Madagascan and Brazilian rhythms. Those young women, from disadvantaged parts of Southern Madagascar, have been touring Southeast Asia since last month.

The Coconut Water Foundation, which is organising the tour, aims to improve the quality of life of disadvantaged people in Cambodia, especially women and children, by focusing on education.

There is no admission fee. Alliance Francaise is located on Witthayu Road.
