After the unfortunate cancellations of bands Primal Scream and Two Door Cinema Club last year, Godung is bouncing back next month with “Tiger Translate Presents Godung Mini Fest”.

Architecture in Helsinki.

And they’re gearing up for a not-so-mini shindig, with three bands from three continents slated to perform. Australia’s Architecture in Helsinki, the UK’s Mystery Jets and Indonesia’s Agrikulture will be on hand to entertain indie music lovers. In  true Tiger Translate and Godung fashion, there will most likely be a street art element, as well as an after party, though details about this have not yet been disclosed.

Indie-pop favourite Architecture in Helsinki bombard your senses onstage with its expertise in a wide array of instruments.  There’s no real fixed position within the band, as the members constantly switch instruments. Not only do they give us ear candy, Architecture in Helsinki also champions the visual aspect of music, as evident in its album artwork. This year saw the outfit releasing its fifth studio album, Now + 4EVA, which should make their live show even more interesting.

Mystery Jets is no stranger to Thai music listeners. With strings of indie-disco favourites such as Young Love, Two Doors Down and Serotonin, the band’s tunes are more familiar than we’d like to admit. Starting out with lead singer Blaine Harrison’s father in the line-up, Mystery Jets insist that it has never been about gimmicks, brushing aside Harrison’s spina bifida condition. With four albums under its belt, Mystery Jets will bring that spark to the Godung Mini Fest.

If you’re looking to book a band from Indonesia, Agrikulture would be the first name to pop up. Started out as remixers for popular Indonesian artists, Agrikulture finally formed an electronic rock band that would take the band all over Asia to play at different festivals. Agrikulture has also opened for and shared the stage with the Beastie Boys, Franz Ferdinand, N.E.R.D, 2ManyDJs, Cut Copy and The Rapture.

Tiger Translate Presents Godung Mini Fest will take place on May 18 at Moonstar Studio, Studio 8. Doors open at 5pm. Early bird tickets, available until April 30, are 1,500 baht. Prices will then increase to 2,000 baht. Expect to pay 2,500 baht at the doors.
