A musical atrium at Alliance Francaise

Swiss mezzo-soprano Liv Lange Rohrer and French pianist Sebastien Koch will fill the atrium of Alliance Francaise Bangkok with poetry and emotion on May 15.

Held as part of the “Voices in the Atrium” concert series, the “Opera & Piano Concert” will see the Bangkok-based vocalist showing off her clear and melodious voice in a programme which includes works by Mozart, Berlioz and Debussy. The show starts at 7.30pm.

Rohrer and Koch will also perform arias from French composer Jean-Philippe Rameau, Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla and British composer Benjamin Britten.

A graduate of the Lucerne School of Music in Switzerland, Rohrer has lived in Bangkok since 2011. She currently studies at the College of Music at Mahidol University, while also working in London and performing throughout Europe.

A piano professor at Alliance Francaise, Koch is a concert pianist who has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious concerts halls, including the Berliner Philharmonie in Berlin and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

He won the Lili Boulanger Memorial Fund Award in the US and was awarded first prize at the Grand Prix des Arts et Patrimoine by the Academie Nationale de Metz in France. He recently performed the piano concerto of American composer John Adams with the Orchestre national de Lorraine at the work’s premiere in France.


Tickets cost 450 baht (300 baht for members and students) and are available at Alliance Francaise on Witthayu Road.
