Fret not: guitar fest is back

The Sukosol Bangkok and the Thailand Guitar Society in association with the Conservatory of Music, Rangsit University is presenting one of Southeast Asia’s finest assemblies of international guitar players, luthiers and enthusiasts.

Supported by Siam Commercial Bank, Bangkok Bank, Kohnomusic, Guitar Paradiso, Aranjuez Strings, Savarez Strings and Yamaha, the “Asia International Guitar Festival & Competition 2014” will take place at the Sukosol Hotel Bangkok’s Rattanakosin Lounge from June 12-15, at 09.30am.

Now in its seventh year, the Asia International Guitar Festival & Competition is one of the biggest events for classical guitar aficionados and music lovers in the region.

Among the highlights are concerts by internationally acclaimed musicians from around the globe such as Gerard Abiton from France, Hugues Navez from Belgium, Masao Tanibe from Japan, Thomas Kirchhoff from Germany, Paul Cesarczyk from the US/Poland, Apichai Chantanakajornfung from Thailand and others. The event also has a special performance by well-known Thai guitarist Ek-karach Charoennit on June 14.

Throughout the four-day event, there will be many activities and performances such a guitar competition, exhibition and masterclasses.

Tickets for evening concerts cost 600 baht (400 baht for students) and afternoon concerts cost 300 baht. Tickets for observers of masterclasses and competitions cost 200 baht.
