Yale’s acclaimed a cappella group will thrill music lovers with its unique singing style in its return to Bangkok on July 29.

The Whiffenpoofs from Yale University return to Bangkok to perform at The Sukosol.

The 14 talented young men from Yale University, known as the Whiffenpoofs (or simply the Whiffs), annually tour the globe, performing in harmony without instrumental accompaniment.

The Whiffs are one of America’s oldest and most famous a cappella groups. Founded in 1909, the group began as a senior quintet but quickly became an in-demand tour de force on the musical scene.

They have performed for a range of distinguished guests, including Mother Theresa, the Dalai Lama and former US Presidents Reagan, Bush and Clinton, not to mention having a cameo on the final episode in season four of the hit TV show Glee.

The group’s repertoire draws on a long heritage of original arrangements from many styles and eras.

Some examples of their repertoire include House Of The Rising Sun, When The Saints Go Marching In, When You Wish Upon A Star and Bon Iver’s Skinny Love.

Their upcoming exclusive night will be held at Rattanakosin Lounge of The Sukosol, Si Ayutthaya Road, on July 29 at 8.30pm.

Tickets cost 500 baht including one standard cocktail (250 baht for students including one soft drink) and 1,200 baht including a free cocktail and pre-show buffet dinner at Patummat International Restaurant.
