LOS ANGELES - Ringo Starr became the last Beatle to be inducted as a solo artist into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday.

The late alternative rock godfather and Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed, pop-punk band Green Day and soul singer-songwriter Bill Withers also headlined this year's list of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees.

Others in the latest class of music greats include 1960s act The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, trail blazing hard rockers Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and bluesman Stevie Ray Vaughan and his band Double Trouble.

Nineteen-fifties soulsters The "5" Royales received the Early Influences Award, the foundation said.

Nominations are determined by the votes of 700 artists, historians and members of the music industry. Musicians become eligible 25 years after the release of their first record.
