After weeks of irritable anticipation, the cool breeze has finally hit Bangkok. It can't be helped that the wait has been quite long, so long that some woke up on the morning of Dec 31, the day the temperature started to drop, feeling they had no idea what to put on to face the cold.
Worse still, browsing runway images for winter inspiration can be daunting. The winter runway looks often come in excessive layering, chunky knits and thick wool, something not even compatible with Thailand's winter when the temperature can suddenly rise out of nowhere at midday. In this, you have to thank former Balenciaga designer Nicholas Ghesquiere for defining a winter look that should be loved by inhabitants of the tropics.
What Ghesquiere did was come up with an almost simple look that's not as simple as it looks. He resurrected the most uncool thing for ladies: jumpers with quirky prints _ something you remember your brother wearing when he was 15 _ and paired them with such a feminine item like the A-line skirt. It's this element of contrast that gives the silly-looking jumper such a fashionable edge.
