As long as it's a flattering colour and comfortable texture, a sweep of lip colour can make a woman shine. Dazzling lips, however, are not drenched in conventional glosses but oil innovations loaded in a tube.
Earlier this year, YSL Beaute introduced an oil-in-stick formula produced by a "back injection" that pours hot oils from the bottom upwards -- the process creating a signature shine and gleaming colour. The mango-scented Rouge Volupte Shine contains a 60% concentration of six oils as well as lip-nourishing pomegranate extract, hyaluronic acid and macadamia butter.
Hailed as a hybrid, Bobbi Brown Nourishing Lip Color Oil-Infused Shine combines pigments with an oil-infused base to achieve a modern texture and a luminous finish. The blend of plant oils (olive, avocado, babassu, jojoba) and cocoa seed butter provides sustained moisturisation to restore parched lips. The solid lip oil, according to Bobbi Brown, continues to care for the lips even after having been wiped off.
Lancome offers a freshly-shaken formula for more fun in dressing up the lips in a vibrant sheer colour with a satin shine.
The biphasic formula features a cocktail of lip-nourishing oils (peach kernel, sweet almond, cranberry, and musk rose) and an infusion of pigments, of which a dispersant agent assures a uniform diffusion.
With a built-in cushion applicator, the playful product is a reinvention of a 1946 bijou lipstick, the Shaker, that was created when the cocktail culture symbolised glamour.

Also in 16 shades, Givenchy Rouge Interdit Vinyl leaves a lustrous shine on lips. In a case sealed with a black ribbon, the edgy lipstick contains precious moisturising black rose oil and a silicone resin that forms a supple vinyl film on the lip surface. The collection includes a mysterious black that reacts according to the pH of the lips. When applied, it takes on a different shade for every woman, such as mauve or plum for a transparent bitten-lip effect.
