During this period when Thailand mourns for the Kingdom's greatest loss, many public events, including bike races, have been postponed or cancelled. Some, however, are sticking to their original schedule, while others have revealed new dates. The following is a list of events that will take place in the next few months.

Thailand Gravity Series 2016

Race Number 3 of the downhill series will be held from Nov 12-13, at Doi Sam Ngok, in Chiang Mai's San Kamphaeng.

The venue is regarded as one of the best racetracks in Chiang Mai. After the qualifying run on the first day, there will also be an auction for a Santa Cruz carbon bike frame with starting bid prices at 40% of the retail price.

Roi Et Criterium & Pan Lan Thung Race

The first is a road cycling competition, organised by Roi Et Chamber of Commerce, which will take place on Nov 19. The venue is Pha Lan Chai Lake. Each round is 1.63km long. The number of participants is limited to 300.

The latter event will follow on the very next day. It is a long distance (89km) race, starting from Pha Lan Chai Lake. Racers -- the number will be limited to 1,000 -- can use either mountain bikes or road bikes.

Aran Cycling Race

The third of its kind, the event to be held at Aranyaprathet, Sa Kaeo, will kick off on Nov 20 as planned. The route for the road bikes will be 73km-long, while the one for mountain bikes is 45km. Cash prizes are available for winners.

The Korat Challenge 55-105km

The road cycling event will be held in accordance with its original date, on Nov 27. The starting point is Nakhon Ratchasima's Chalerm Phra Kiat Stadium.

Every rider who manages to reach the finish line within four and a half hours will be awarded with a souvenir.

M2F Cycling Championship 2016

A road riding competition organised by M2F free newspaper will take place in Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima, from Dec 10-11. The route runs along the northern boundary of Khao Yai National Park. There are two distances for participants to choose, 50km and 100km.

The winner in each category will receive a trophy from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindorn.

Wattana Nakhon Chai Koen Roi

The road riding event to mark the 60th anniversary of Watthana Nakhon School in Sa Kaeo province will be held on Dec 11. The ride distance is 70km, starting from the school. Every rider is required to finish within three hours. Participants are limited to 560.

Down Mall Challenge 2016

Bangkok's first downhill race to take place in a shopping mall has been rescheduled for Jan 20-22. The venue is still the Bright Community Mall on Rama II.
