One of Pascal Capitaine's beauty tips is to keep it light as heavy make-up puts years on the face.

"The best make-up is what people don't see," said the Sisley international make-up artist. "But those with mature skin may adopt the 'plastering' strategy aimed at covering imperfections linked to ageing when make-up with too much coverage can actually accentuate them."

Mature skin, however, has to step up to an anti-ageing foundation, he advised at the launch of Sisleya Le Teint, an addition to the L'Integral Anti-Age skincare line.

"Skincare-infused foundation is better considering that you wear make-up the whole day. A feather-light and long-lasting formula is also preferred for wearing in humid climates," he said.

Available in eight shades and lasting eight hours, Sisleya Le Teint features radiance-boosting mica and skin-rejuvenating plant extracts. Finding shades that are as close as possible to the natural skin tone will enhance the complexion's luminosity for a bare skin effect.

Capitaine has been a make-up artist for two decades. Over the years, beauty trends have gravitated towards nude looks emphasising the complexion, with more time spent on perfecting the skin and less on primping eyes and lips.

"For this natural make-up style, complexion products play a leading role while a lipstick one might one say becomes an accessory," said the Belgian make-up artist.

Complexion products have also advanced with the advent of primer, BB and CC creams, hybrid foundations along with their cushion formats.

"Make-up was simpler when I started because there weren't so many options compared to today," he said. "The internet has also influenced the choice of beauty products but it is still about going to the counter and product-testing in finding the right foundation."
