The great white tent -- home of Elle Fashion Week -- returns for its 20th year. Starting today, CentralWorld will resume its role as one of Bangkok's major stomping grounds as 14 shows from 18 designers run through Sept 2. This year sees old legends, established brands, as well as up-and-coming names.

Tonight kicks off with one of the key figures in Thai fashion over the last five decades -- Kai. The national artist and namesake designer, Somchai "Kai" Kaewthong says it is likely that this is going to be his last fashion show due to his old age. We've heard that there are stunning, grand dresses hitting the runway at 7pm, marking this as one of the most anticipated shows this season.

Tomorrow sees Vickteerut taking the floor at 7pm, followed by Landmee at 9pm. On Friday, we expect a full house for ASV at 5pm, Kloset at 7pm and Everyday Karmakamet at 9pm. Since it's also the last day of the month and we can already envision the hellish traffic that ensues, mallgoers have been warned to enter the area surrounding CentralWorld at their own risk.

Saturday sees the afternoon start off with Nicha at 3pm, while the first collective show, which showcases newcomers, kicks off at 5pm. This year's "Fresh Faces" roster includes By Adi C, Archive026, Takara Wong and Vinn Patararin. Although she's turning the heat up on the YouTube waves, Vatanika will also be showing her collection at 7pm. The last show of the night, Mesh Museum, will be hitting the runway at 9pm. If one is unfamiliar with the name, this was the brand that created the dress Namtan Chalita, Miss Universe Thailand 2016, wore at the Governor's Ball. Its team is also behind another edgy Bangkok brand, Realistic Situation.

The fifth and final day kicks off with a collective show by the Ministry of Culture's Office of Contemporary Art and Culture. Here, Wisharawish, Sarunrat Panchiracharoen (of Everyday Karmakamet) and T-ra Chantasawasdee come together to showcase their own vision of contemporary southern batik at 2pm. Mirror Mirror Bangkok follows up at 4pm, while Painkiller walks the stage at 6pm. The season ends with Hook's at 8pm, which can always be expected to deliver a theatrical extravaganza. This year's after-party is sponsored by Sansiri's XT Extend Your Style campaign. For more information or to watch the shows live, visit Elle Thailand's Facebook page.
