Under the starry sky of Rome, Thai Airways held a special event recently to celebrate the 44th anniversary of its Bangkok-Italy routes.

The event took place at MadeITerraneo restaurant of the Michelin-starred chef Riccardo Di Giacinto located on the rooftop of Central Group-owned Rinascente department store. Apart from executive members of Thai Airways and Central Group, the celebration was also attended by tour operators, travel agents and celebrities as well as over 30 local and Thai media.

Eyes were drawn to the night-time panorama over the roofs and domes of the capital, and to the unique colours of the Roman sunset. Guests were able to enjoy some of the dishes that distinguish the philosophy of Ristorante All'Oro, the Michelin-starred brainchild of chef Di Giacinto located in the very centre of Rome, near Piazza del Popolo, where gourmet cuisine and a warm and welcoming atmosphere are said to meet.

The role of host was played by Warote Intasara, general manager of Thai Airways Italy. Before taking the post in early 2018, Warote had directed the Thai Airways offices in Munich, Germany, and in Osaka, Japan, for several years.

Also during the event, Supatra Chirathivat of Central Group announced her company's partnership with Thai Airways via their passengers privilege campaigns.

Then guests were serenaded with live jazz music by the talented Koh Mr Saxman, and entertained by traditional Thai dances and a tombola, which might have been the high moment of the entire evening.

Thai Airways started operating in Italy in 1974, the year when the Rome-Bangkok route was inaugurated. Currently, it flies non-stop from Italy to Thailand up to 10 times per week, with flights from Rome or Milan to Bangkok every day.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Italy Tana Weskosith gave the opening speech.
