Raunchy image stolen

Sexy singer Nongphanee "Ja Turbo" Mahadthai is taking legal action against a website which stole her image to promote an R-rated movie.

Ja Turbo, best known for the raunchy song Kan Hoo, says at heart she is still a country girl, who knew nothing about X-rated movies when she entered the industry.

"I have a raunchy image, and I am worried that Thais who see the website will think I really have acted in porn movies," she said at Chok Chai police station, where she laid her complaint.

A member of her fan club found the site and sent her the link. She couldn't get in to watch the movie, as it is pay-for-view. However, her fans sent her a grab from the film, which is rated R20.

"My face looks similar to hers, but it's not me," she said. "I am upset about it, as it is being shared in social media by people who obviously think it's the real thing."

The website claims it's Ja Turbo's first time in front of the camera making a sexy movie. She has not made contact with the website's owner, but expects the police will.

Ja Turbo sprang to fame grabbing her crotch in Kan Hoo. She said while she might be known for her sexy dance movies, her fans understand she was just performing.

"When I sang that song, I was just a country girl. I am still a simple country girl even now," she said.

"I do not regret Kan Hoo for a moment, as it has made me what I am today," she said. "However, I am worried my family will get upset if they see the publicity." Police are investigating.

Secret overseas admirer

Singer and actress Suteewan "Baitoey" Thaveesin says news she has an overseas-educated Thai admirer gives her a buzz, though she would never be tempted to stray.

Baitoey was asked about reports last week that she was seeing someone on the side, after her boyfriend, Pattanapol "Man" Kunchorn Na Ayutthaya, left a cryptic message on social media.

DJ Mann, as he is known, posted a link to a song, "I don't know if you are thinking of me or not."

Baitoey brushed off the rumours, adding she knows DJ Mann would never tolerate her straying, and she was too scared to try.

"Oh, he's always putting up songs which suggest he's brokenhearted … in fact, he'd shoot me before he'd let me get away with seeing another man," she joked.

Baitoey admits a senior public servant had shown an interest in her recently, though she had promptly told her boyfriend.

"It felt pretty good, because no one has flirted with me in ages," she said.

Baitoey said the overseas-educated Thai, who had just returned from abroad and did not know that she and DJ Mann are an item, had seen her at a show and approached a member of her entourage.

"He enjoyed my work and left word with someone on my team. He did not know I already have an owner [DJ Mann] and was OK with that."

Meanwhile, an anti-Baitoey site has declared it is suspending operations, as the bad news it spreads about the singer only serves to boost her reputation.

The Instagram site, @anti_baitoeyrsiam, has spread a variety of negative claims about Baitoey, including that she likes to drop English words into her social media posts, but in fact has a poor grasp of the language, and that she encourages youngsters to don inappropriate gear to mimic her sexy dance moves.

The admins behind the site, who will not identify themselves, say journalists happily take their material and ask Baitoey for her response, which only serves to keep her in the news. Even if it's bad publicity, it still gives her media buzz.

Baitoey and her boyfriend have threatened to sue the site.

"We will take a break, and see if there's any improvement," the site's admin wrote last week. Earlier, the admin asked two actresses who have bad blood with Baitoey for their views on whether the site should go into hiatus.

Actress Panadda "Boom" Wongphudee, and actress Irin "Pel" Srikaew, who have both acted in sexy scenes with Baitoey's boyfriend DJ Mann, and suffered negative publicity as a result, agreed the site should stop its carping.

"Baitoey doesn't care where she gets her information … she'll even comment on posts on my Instagram site," said Boom, sounding unhappy.

Pel, meanwhile, took a lofty tone. "Those who wish ill deeds upon others will reap mischief themselves," she opined.

Showing too much

Model and actress Irin "Pel" Srikaew says she has no qualms about giving away her mother's land to a temple, but does feel sorry about splitting her legs in a music video.

Pel recently gave away two cars to a temple, and is now contemplating giving the monks about 30 rai of Kanchanaburi land left to her by her now deceased mother.

"Worldly assets do not mean much to me … they are just so much outside my body. I would rather give them away to make merit," she said.

Pel said she was rewarded for her recent act of generosity when her mother appeared before her in a dream.

"She was driving the cars, which were made of solid gold, and contained the food I had placed in the monks' bowls when they come around for alms giving."

Pel, who is well known for her acts of generosity, says while she has no regrets in that department, she does wish she had been more circumspect in a recent music video, when she showed too much between her legs.

One news website last week ran contrasting pictures of Pel giving a demure wai at a temple, and doing the splits for the music video.

At the temple, she is sensibly dressed in trousers.

In the video shot, she is wearing a see-through lacy dress, high-rise leather boots and black gloves. She is squatting, hands on knees, with legs splayed before the camera to reveal a pair of small, skin-coloured pants.

"I saw the video and just about died. At that moment I was tempted to give up sexy work altogether. I am sensitive about such things … I care what my fans and elders in the industry think. I want them to enjoy my work. If they did not get pleasure out of the music video, I apologise," she said.

Not feeling like a minor wife

Actress Bongkot "Tak" Khongmalai denies she is having problems her husband, billionaire Dtac founder Boonchai Bencharongkul, after she left a message on social media comparing herself to a minor wife.

"Have you ever felt like a minor wife, even though you are legally married?" she asked.

A day after leaving the remark, Tak hastily told journalists her marriage was as happy as ever. The couple, who were married in March last year, have a young son. Boonchai, who is twice his wife's age, has five previous wives and five adult children.

"He takes just as much care of me now as he did before we were married, and our son is our golden bond of love who helps keep us together," she enthused.

Explaining the social media remark, Tak said people she meets like to warn her that she is probably just a minor wife, as her husband is bound to be seeing people on the side.

"At first I just put up with it, as I understand Boonchai's situation," she said. "However, now I am starting to feel annoyed, as the remarks do not stop."

Some people said if she has a marriage document, it is probably just one of many which her husband has signed.

"I trust my husband too much to raise this matter with him, but I know it's not true," Tak said, adding she had kept Boonchai informed of what people were saying.
