A Precious Vision of The Future: COLVMBVS™ Gmt

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

Charriol's respect for the 15th century Italian explorer, Christopher Columbus was first captured in a watch collection in 1983. Philippe Charriol, inspired by the adventurer spirit of the famed seafarer, created a line of watches in homage to this enterprising spirit.

In 2013, the year of Charriol's 30th anniversary celebrations, the Maison released a trio of fine handmade horology timepieces, including the limited series 300-piece COLVMBVS™ Grande Date GMT, as part of the ever-evolving COLVMBVS™ line.

The Grande Date GMT includes a Grande Date Technotime 651 movement with GMT module, as well as a decorated oscillating weight.

Charriol is now delighted to present a new variant of this timepiece for Baselworld 2014, with a striking black dial set in a rose gold PVD case. Special finishings on the dial include a guilloché sunray motif, sun-brushed central dial and circular brushed seconds counter. The Grande Date display is indicated via a striking system of double-discs.

As with others in the collection, the rose gold PVD case is embellished with interlocking teeth that are reminiscent of a compass rose: a nod to the collection's nautical origins. Additional nautical details are elegantly integrated into the watch.

The crown echoes the shape of a clevis, a type of pin commonly found on ship's rigging. The sapphire case back, shows the inner workings of this automatic timepiece, and the glass is etched with a profile of Christopher Columbus.

Perfect for sailing fans and those with an explorer spirit, the delicate pink and black tones of this sophisticated timepiece create the ideal watch for modern dreamers and adventurers.

"CHARRIOL'S COLVMBVS™ Grande Date GMT timepiece is priced at Bt225,500.

Charriol counters can be found at all leading department stores."
