Created in 1962, the Chantaco golf based near Saint-Jean-de-Luz is the cradle of the Lacoste family. It quickly became one of the landmarks of the Pays Basque, hosting personalities like the Prince of Wales, Clark Gable or Charlie Chaplin. Chantaco is now recognized as one of the best luxury clubs with its 18- Holes course. It hosts the Lacoste Ladies Open de France, a tournament that gathers Europe's finest female players in the fall.

In 2012, Lacoste launched the L.12.12 leather goods line, a collection of shopping bags in « petit piqué » canvas. Beyond the name and the crocodile signature, both borrowed from the iconic L.12.12 polo shirt, it is also inspired by the energy of its color range. In September 2013; Lacoste fashion Show in New York featured the L.12.12 shopping bag in a premium version in « petit piqué »leather. Named Chantaco, in honor of the family golf course, its « dotted » texture recalls the golf ball and its elegant handles, the lines of a tee. It is coming in four colors: summer sky blue, smart black, white and navy, very Lacoste. Destined to become a classic of the crocodile brand, the Chantaco bag, with its elegant and uncluttered spirit is declined in new colors each season.

This year, Lacoste celebrates its family heritage in a line of bags in autumn colors: The Chantaco. The story startedin Spring/Summer 2014 and goes on with this totein « petit piqué » leather for Fall/Winter2014-2015 in 4 shades: black, plum, navy and pinkish grey.

The line in uncluttered casual chic style presented on the LACOSTE runway in the New York February 2014 fashion show takes on a new life form for ready-to-wear. The beauty of the Chantaco is due partly to the L.12.12 which inspired it and partly to the piqué style reminiscent of a golf ball. There is also a clutch version of the Chantaco. « LACOSTE » in gold lettering highlights the luxury and elegance of the brand.
