For Australians and lovers of food programmes on SBS TV, Guy Grossi is a household name renowned for creating cuisine that reflects his rich Italian heritage. The owner of three restaurants in Melbourne and author of several cookbooks, he is also the only celebrity chef to make his mark on the Bangkok dining scene. In 2009, he partnered with InterContinental Bangkok to open Grossi Trattoria & Wine Bar, the first internationally branded Italian restaurant in city.

During the Christmas and New Year period, Grossi Trattoria & Wine Bar invites diners to enjoy its special festive dishes which include pumpkin risotto with glazed chestnuts and a Taleggio cheese fritter, and duck leg confit tortelloni with chick pea purée and a duck jus. The traditional Christmas bird also gets an Italian makeover by Grossi. His succulent turkey escalopes are wrapped in Parma ham, flavoured with sage, and served with braised cabbage and a cranberry jus. The popular restaurant offers an excellent wine list but for seasonal celebrations Grossi has created two signature cocktails. Served in a highball glass, the White Daisy blends Ciroc vodka with triple sec, white grape juice and vanilla syrup with a garnish of fresh strawberry, orange and mint, while the Grossi Fizz mixes Ciroc vodka with peach liqueur, cranberry juice and elderflower syrup poured over crushed ice for a refreshing pre-dinner tipple. Diners can end their satisfying lunch or dinner with a delicious panettone pudding with orange crème Anglaise.
Business Express Lunch
With its towering glass frontage, spacious light-filled interior and street-side terrace dotted with parasols, Grossi Trattoria & Wine Bar attracts lunchtime diners from the bustling Ratchaprasong area. For time challenged execs or a friends get-together at Christmas and New Year, the Business Express Lunch offers plenty of choice but is light on the wallet. For just Baht 425++ diners can start with soup of the day or Caesar salad, followed by a choice of four main dishes; spaghetti or penne pasta with carbonara, Bolognese, spicy arrabbiata or cream mushroom sauce, tender slow-cooked lamb with polenta and ratatouille, pizza of the day, or roast fillet of salmon with crushed potato with bell pepper sauce. Pay an extra Baht 175++ and diners can also order a freshly brewed coffee and choose an irresistible dessert.
New Year's Eve Celebrations
On New Year's Eve, Grossi Trattoria & Wine Bar at InterContinental Bangkok is a magical place to dine and celebrate, right in the heart of downtown Bangkok. As revellers gather outside CentralWorld and at the Ratchaprasong intersection, diners can savour fresh Italian flavours alfresco on the terrace. Surrounded by sparkling festive lights and decorations, it's a stylish venue to share the last hours of 2014 with friends. Due to the popularity of the restaurant and the close proximity to celebrations, advance booking is essential.
