Achieve the seasonal look with the latest array of pinks, pastels and corals

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

Despite the drop in temperature and a slightly chilly breeze, Thailand's winter will shortly give way to warmer weather.

Although the country doesn't really have a spring, the vernal season certainly seems to have already arrived at the cosmetics department, where make-up collections compete in offering a spectrum of colours.

Many cosmetic brands launch their spring collections as early as January as for many this period, which coincides with new year resolutions, often includes a beauty transformation with the latest ensemble of make-up.

This season comes with the anticipated return of pinks and pastels as well as corals, which signify the next transition to a sunnier summer. Stronger hues have also found their way into spring/summer 2015 collections, as each season is no longer dominated by one colour trend.

Pastel shades always reappear in spring make-up because they are associated with youth.

Guerlain's approach to a youthful look lies in the skin. Instead of eyeshadows and lip colours as spring must-haves, the French brand focuses on three items for creating a fresh and luminous cherub complexion.

Les Tendres collection features Meteorites Baby Glow sheer foundation featuring Stardust technology, a light-creating polymer taken from the iconic Meteorites make-up pearls.

The pastel-coloured pearls have also been transformed into a pressed powder, appearing as a mosaic with each shade fulfilling a different duty. Mauve for example catches the light and the pink brings out the skin's natural luminosity.

Meteorites Perles de Blush combines fuchsia, champagne and pink pearls that blend together on the skin to give cheeks an angelic glow. Pastels are described by MAC as poetic colours that usher in a new vitality after the cold winter and its dark-tone make-up palette.

The cosmetic brand named one of its Mineralise Glass Poetic, a pearly Champagne pink that can be layered over the Be Fabulous Mineralise Rich Lipstick in a washed-out pastel pink. Mineralise eyeshadow and blush in sheer pastels also come together for MAC'S Lightness of Being collection.

Light shades may not work well for every women, however, particular those with a dark natural lip colour. Moreover, against certain skin tones, pastels can make you look pale rather than pretty.

In these cases, opt for vivid colours for luscious lips as seen in spring looks from Chanel, Burberry and Three.

Burberry's slightly matt ruby red lips stand out against glowing honey skin, while tawny eyes are washed with nude hues and nails either in pink, blue and green.

The make-up look is inspired by the spring/summer 2015 runway theme, The Birds and the Bees. Colours from the ready-to-wear collection, pink azalea and bright coral red sit alongside a beige cloud on a hydrangea pink background in blush/highlighter palette with the "Rain or Shine" motif as a nod to the fashion brand's heritage in trench coats.

The emblematic camellia motif once again blooms on Jardin de Chanel blusher from the Reverie Parisienne collection, which is inspired by the City of Lights in springtime. Taken from its blooming gardens, either bright orange and fuchsia makes lips the centre of attention for Chanel's elegant spring look whereas pastel shades adorn delicate eyes illuminated with ivory and sculpted with slate grey.

Likewise, shimmery beige, pink, and lavender hues on eyelids let brighter lips take the leading role in a more casual spring look from Japanese brand, Three, who developed a jam-like texture for its hybrid of lip colour and gloss, available in 11 shades.

There's no restriction in colours for Dior as it welcomes all hues to its Kingdom of Colors collection, from glimmering pastels to bright colour blocks for infinite combinations of colours.

The technicolour collection allows more options and to play with the spectrum, whether a wash of spring green or petal pink on eyelids, a pop of cherry or peach on cheeks, and a sweep of rosewood or fuchsia on lips.

Nails also express spring vibes with Top Coat Eclosion of yellow, green and white micro-confetti.

Almond green, deep purple, fresh coral and sensual pink are among the 10 colours combined for the covetable Kingdom of Colors face, eyes and lips palette stamped with Monsieur Dior's coat of arms and presented in a midnight blue case.

Cheeks and lips can also share the same flattering shade by applying Cheek & Lip Glow, Dior's new hybrid formula for a sparkling pink flush.

Chanel spring 2015 look also emphasises vibrant lips.
