Businessmen, socialites and buyers flocked to the edge of the Chao Phraya for the launch of a new riverside development

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

With riverfront properties along the Chao Phraya being quietly snatched up by investors and developers as soon as they come on the market, getting 36 rai by the river is no mean feat.

Executives of Country Group Development PCL (CDG) were therefore bursting with pride when they launched Bangkok’s newest luxury living project — Four Seasons Private Residences Bangkok at Chao Phraya River.

Located on Bangkok’s first ever thoroughfare, Charoen Krung Road, the property offers a vantage point of the river, with Taksin Bridge not too far away.

Guests brought their cars up the winding driveway to the sales gallery and ascended in their black tie finery, while a team of valets whisked the cars off to some hidden location. A special marquee had been set up for the party venue, accessed via a walkway lined with handsome male models in tuxedos echoing words of welcome as you pass.

Gradually the marquee filled up with businessmen, socialites, and potential buyers of the 300,000 baht/m² condominiums. Drinks and canapes were circulated by waitresses, while a jazz singer entertained.

Bangkok’s top emcee Sawitri Rochanapruek welcomed guests and gave a quick rundown of the project, followed by a short introduction film that gave an overview of the riverside community, and the new Four Seasons Project which will include two hotels — Four Seasons and Capella — and a luxury 73-storey condominium.

There were two short speeches by the host, Country Group chairman Sadawut Taechaubol, as well as Four Seasons President Asia Pacific, Michael A Crawford. They both posed with other top executives for a group photo, before the highlight of the evening. The screen was rolled up out of sight, and the curtain backdrop drawn back, and guests were delighted to see the river just outside. They stepped out onto the grassy bank, where the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra played. As they made their way to the sales gallery to view the mock-up rooms, the orchestra struck up the notes for Katy Perry’s Firework, and very soon, the “boom, boom, boom” of the lyrics was matched with a spectacular pyrotechnic display over the river.

The after party took place at the sales gallery, and it’s possible that some of the guests might have been convinced to sign up for one of the units, ranging in size from 115m² for a two-bedroom residence to 1,050m² for a penthouse residence. n
