These days people only have eyes for their mobile phone instead of verbal communication, let alone emotion-laden eye contact.

Instead of staring at the screen, prestigious skincare brand La Mer encourages looking up and into each other eyes to truly connect (without depending on the internet).

As a powerful mean of communication, eyes can sometimes speak more than words, and this is portrayed in Illuminating Moments, a series of short vignettes starring three stylish couples, beginning with American actress/model Olivia Palermo and German model/photographer Johannes Huebl.

The film is a part of La Mer's global digital campaign for the launch of Illuminating Eye Gel.

Shot in New York, the first film captures Palermo and her husband sharing a moment in their busy lives punctuated with missed connection. When really looking at each other, they can open up to strengthen their relationship.

"The eyes are the most powerful force of attraction. A man or woman may not speak a word but their eyes will tell you everything," said Loretta Miraglai, La Mer's senior vice-president in charge of product development.

Two other couples from Paris and Seoul will continue the series, which will be released on Valentine's Day.

A new brand ambassador, singer/actress Pimdao "Mutmee" Panichsamai, has also been named for the launch of the eye gel, which targets a younger audience as well as older La Mer devotees.

Early signs of ageing and traces of stress and fatigue first appear around the eyes, where the skin is thinner and more fragile than other areas of the face. Moisturising this delicate zone is a key to delay premature wrinkles, with the new on-the-go eye product recommended for touch-ups during the day.

Besides containing La Mer's skin-transforming Miracle Broth, the cooling Illuminating Eye Gel features two other bioferments as well as light-bending sea pearls to address eye issues, making peepers more attractive and ready for illuminating moments.

The launch campaign also invites mobile users to create a mosaic of their favourite photos from Facebook or any image bank, and share it on their preferred social network. The mosaics will be featured on LaMer.co.th. People can also post images or short videos of things that light up their eyes at #eyeslightup.
