Five easy tips to radiant skin

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

Whether it is human instinct or Chinese facial feng shui, glowing, healthy skin has always been a desirable quality, even before the Korean dewy skin trend emerged. Those who believe in facial feng shui say that glowing skin attracts wealth and good luck.

Bobbi Brown offers a Korean Beauty Lesson to help you achieve a watery glow in 20 minutes. The service is free of charge.

Scientifically, the skin glows when the body is healthy. Psychologically, we are naturally attracted to a person who has a healthy-looking appearance.

Cherdchai Sitthimanachai, Bobbi Brown Senior National Make-up Artist, shared five tips to create the perfect dewy look.

1. Pick the right products

Cherdchai said that there are many ways to achieve the dewy look, and each approach addresses a different skin type. “You can use pearlescent moisturiser, foundation, or shimmer to create dewy skin. You have to personalise it, because the goal is to create fresh, glowing skin that suits your lifestyle,” he said. If your skin is dry, a good moisturiser is more important than a foundation. If your skin is oily, you can go easy on the moisturiser, and choose an oil-control foundation. A quick and easy way is to dust fine shimmer on areas you need to highlight.

2. Don’t forget the eyes

While the dewy look focuses on the skin, the most important area to take care of is actually the eyes, according to Cherdchai. Hollow eyes with dark circles can ruin the total look. “You should make sure that the dark circles are covered up, otherwise you will just be enhancing them by putting on glowing foundation. A corrector and concealer can make a big difference.”

3. Highlight only as needed

Just because you’re going for a dewy look doesn’t mean your face should shine from every pore. The areas that should be highlighted are the bridge of the nose, cheekbones, and chin. The areas that should look matte are naso-labial furrows (the lines running from your nose to the corners of your mouth) and your jaw lines.

4. Hide your pores

It’s tricky to get that dewy look to look right when you have larger pores since they can look enlarged when shiny. If you have large pores, use products that help cover the appearance of pores to make the skin look smoother. Cherdchai recommended using skin smoothing product that helps “blur” the pores to create a smooth look before putting on foundation.

5. Think long-term

Cherdchai stressed that when you apply your make-up, don’t just think about how you look in the morning. “Some women make their face glossy in the morning, and by midday, their skin already looks unattractively greasy. Don’t forget that we live in a hot and humid country, and the skin tends to get oilier during the day. Your make-up should make you feel confident, not self-conscious.”
