The hottest pre-fall collections to suit any occasion

Date night

Disaya's summer collection Beau du Jour was all about gingham, full-blown sequins to catch the sunlight and an explosion of flowers. Their pre-fall collection, Beau du Nuit, is the night-time version, swapping bright colours that are perfect for flaunting around under the Sun into pastels and midnight blacks that gleam seductively when Moon-bathed. Continuing with the right-out-of-bed theme, the shape of pyjamas inspire dressing gowns, jackets, long trousers and dresses. With these quiet and pearly pieces, you'll pull off the 5pm-onwards functions easily, giving off a more enigmatic and formal elegance for when the Sun goes down.

Fashion week front seat

Marni is looking manlier this pre-fall, with nods to some men's tailoring and more than enough coloured fur. Extremely dynamic and eclectic, the jumble of dizzying 70s prints, fur textures, sleek and lean silhouettes are thrown together to create strangely fitting total looks. In this fluid play of opposites, the colours are dense and deep, thus toning down what would usually be far too much. The juxtaposition extends to the accessories too — complete the look with their slick and sharp bags if your outfit is already big, or opt for one of their furry bags to complement geometric and solid skirts.

Board meeting

Float into the meeting room with Halston Heritage's flowy silk pieces that re-envision the pale blue feather wig hat the brand designed for Bergdorf Goodman in the 60s. The feathers emerge again all over everything, in scales both exaggerated or in panels. Silhouettes may be simple, but little details such as sequin overlays and gilded hardware speak of understated luxury. The wide colour palette ranges from soft peaches to take us through the end of summer; soft neutrals of sage and flint to pave the way for transition; rich hues of port; and plum to welcome the beginning of autumn.

Outdoor jazz festival

Finely-drawn flowers and tribal motifs come together to create Diane Von Furstenberg's Tribal Rock collection. Looking more structured and put together than the slouchy boho, a tribal patchwork skirt flows underneath a sleek leather bodice, while wrap dresses and wide-legged trousers come in loud animal and ethnic-looking prints. The brand also debuted their very first line of fashion jewellery earlier this year, meaning you can pick up bold and unique pieces in-store to go with each outfit. Among the very DVF motifs you can choose to embellish your wrists are hearts, coins, lips and the glamorous Sutra link.

Weekend trip abroad

In this prim yet free-spirited collection from Tory Burch, inspiration hails straight from London and Carnaby Street in the late 60s, where English heritage dressing is reworked in an easy yet elegant way. Find those little small-scale patterned prints the Brits seem to love so much on short dresses and skirts. Whether you head to old British colonies such as Malaysia, Hong Kong or Singapore, there are pieces that will keep you conservatively tucked in, as well as something more breezy and vivacious for the holiday heat on different isles.
