Illamasqua’s School of Make-Up Art offers a range of classes to get the look

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

Smokey eyes, perfect brows, Angelina Jolie’s lips and an effortless contour. If you are one of those who’ve been clicking through the tutorials on YouTube but never really manage to “get the look” like those beauty bloggers do, maybe it’s a better idea to learn the tips, tricks and techniques from the real pros.

The School of Make-Up Art, hidden within Illamasqua Flagship Store, lets both make-up enthusiasts and serious artists master the skills. All led by educators, there are a range of diverse programmes designed for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, with lessons that include Perfecting Skin, Eye Brow and Eye Make-Up, Perfecting Brides, Drag & Manga Make-Up and a Professional Course.

The most in-demand session is Day-to-Night Class. To create fuss-free make-up routines for busy women, the three-hour intensive course provides step-by-step lessons to transform an office angel into
a night-time diva.

For everyday beauty, the course
starts with the prepping of skin, creating a flawless base, applying colours, and then goes on to how to use proper brushes for application. Then, vamp up the look with a 10-minute quick fix to achieve party-ready glamour.

The classroom at the School of Make-Up Art can accommodate up to 10 participants for each lesson. The perks are that the room provides a full line of Illamasqua products to play with while make-up specialists are at hand, so you can master the beauty cheats and artist tips directly from them.

The School of Make-Up Art is located within the Illamasqua Flagship Store on the 2nd Floor of Groove@CentralWorld. For a class schedule and more details, call 02-251-6883 or visit facebook.com/Illamasqua.th. Make-up programmes start from 3,500 baht with partial value to redeem Illamasqua products.

FIVE TRICKS I LEARNED FROM THE TUTORS

1. Use a foundation brush to apply and blend cream or liquid foundation to create a flawless base and natural looking skin.

2. Apply powder by brush or a puff onto the face in a tapping motion to set the powder and foundation to hold it in place.

3. Achieve different intensities of colours by holding the brush at different positions: placing the hand close to the bristle head to “build” a defined and intense effect; holding a brush at the centre of the handle to “blend” colours; and placing fingers towards the end of the handle to “blur” for a soft, diffused look.

4. Tap the side of a brush onto the make-up to make the bristle last longer and maintain its original shape.

5. Make the lips pop and look fuller by adding a dab of light-reflecting pigment above the cupid’s bow.
