Pretty pouts in pink

Elegant flamingoes owe their pinkish and peachy plumage to their consumption of small crustaceans and algae rich in carotenoids.

Crunching carrots and carotenoid-rich fruits and vegetables however won't give girls a pretty pink glow or candy-coloured lips -- what's required is cosmetics to get the job done in creating a girlie look.

"Wearing pink not only makes you look young, you feel young as well," said MAC make-up artist Sanid Intaasa. "With a youthful mentality, you have more fun playing with pink make-up."

From pastel to pop, pink is the key colour in MAC's Flamingo Park spring 2016 collection launched at Siam Paragon last week. The imaginary park along with cardboard wading birds was opened to cosmetic junkies, who could experiment with the pink palette on eyelids, cheeks and lips.

Blinking pink eyelids can be draped with a wash of shimmering pinky-coral with a satin finish called Sushi flower. A sweep of Pink Swoon blush gives the cheeks a lovely glow while the Pearl Blossom beauty powder imparts a light pink on the complexion.

"The easiest way to get in the pink is by wearing lipstick and gloss, with the spectrum ranging from pastel to a bright fuchsia. Just be playful with pink and just be Silly on lips," he said, referring to the Be Silly fuchsia lipstick from the spring collection.
