Talking about challenges, in "Future Proofing Cities" ("Risks and Opportunities for Inclusive Urban Growth in Developing Countries"),published on 29 November 2012, it is said that, by 2070, as many as 5 million people could be at risk of flooding in Bangkok.

The report is describing a "perfect storm of risks" facing various places from megacities like Bangkok to smaller cities such as Zaria in Africa. It looks at their risk profile from climate hazards, resource scarcities and damage to ecosystems and urges action now to future proof against these risks. Good reading.
