Thai women are, in a way, blessed with an abundant offering of clothes, from as cheap as 50 baht apiece to items so expensive it's hard to count the zeros.
An average Thai woman, according to Social Integrated, spends between 3,000 and 6,000 baht on clothes a month, mostly at market stalls. A UK survey found that an average woman has 22 clothing items hanging untouched in her wardrobe, and they feel reluctant to throw them away because they have never been worn.
"It is easy to be tempted by inexpensive clothes, but remember that sometimes they are cheap for a reason," said Koi Suwannagate, a high-profile Thai designer who is based in New York.
