Si Sa Ket police chief Pongwutti Pongsri said the logs and four weighing scales were found in a row house in Si Sa Ket's Muang district.

Most of the logs were freshly cut and many of them were two to three metres long. Some had already been processed, Pol Maj Gen Pongwutti said.

He said the row house, owned by Kittiphan Koyakul, was used as a place to store and transport illegal logs to foreign countries.

Police were continuing their investigating to track down the illegal loggers. Rosewood is a protected tree.
