Other shareholders in the AIF are Malaysia (US$150m), Indonesia (US$120m), Philippines (US$15m), Singapore (US$15m), Vietnam (US$10m) and Brunei (US$10m).

This agreement will not need parliamentary consent because it has no direct impact on the Thai economy, said Mrs Thitima.

The AIF is a mechanism in which Asean member states and the ADB work together through pooling funds – and promoting the use of Asean savings – to foster infrastructure development within the region and make the Master Plan on Asean Connectivity (MPAC) a reality.
