Speaking on “Yingluck government meets the people” weekly talk show on NBT this morning, Mr Chalerm said police had seized 57 million methamphetamine pills, 215kg of heroin, 1,132kg of crystal methamphetamine, 11,456kg of marihuana and 20kg of cocaine over the period.
In addition, more than 500,000 drug addicts were rehabilitated over the past ten months. The government targets to increase the number of rehabilitated drug addicts to 700,000 next year, he added.
Mr Chalerm said he will discuss with neighbouring countries to find ways to prevent illegal drugs from being smuggled through border areas into Thailand.
