Guard charged with killing Thai HIV conference delegate

A security guard has been arrested and charged with the murder of a Thai delegate attending the 11th International Congress on Drug Therapy in HIV Infection in Glasgow, Scotland.

The victim, Khanoporn Satjawat, 42, was found dead in the female restroom on the second floor of Glasgow's Clyde Auditorium, where the meeting is being held, on Monday afternoon.

The suspect, Clive Carter, 34, was a security guard at the venue.

He was accused of repeatedly striking the victim with an instrument in the toilet.

The suspect appeared at the city's  Sheriff's Court court and was charged with murdering the Thai delegate. He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody, Glasgow's Daily Record newspaper reported on its website.

Clive’s employers G4S and the event organizer KnowledgePoint360 Group refused to provide any comment on the incident.
