Cool New Year for upper Thailand
An active high pressure system from China is covering the upper Northeast and will extend to other regions later, the Meteorological Department announced on Sunday.

From Sunday, temperatures are likely to drop by 4-7 degrees celcius in the North, Northeast and Central including Bangkok and the eastern provinces.
Temperatures below 16 degrees Celcius are expected to be recorded in many parts of the North and Northeast where high mountains will see very cold weather of below 8 degrees Celcius.
Isolated frost will occur on mountain tops in the North. People are advised to keep warm.
Meanwhile, a strong northeasterly monsoon is prevailing over the Gulf of Thailand and the South, bringing more rain to areas from Surat Thani province on down.
Waves are likely to be 2-4 metres high. Boats should proceed with caution. Small craft should keep ashore during Dec 30-Jan 2.
