Village chief held, weapons seized
Police in Krabi province on Monday arrested a village chief and two men suspected of having links with organised crime and confiscated some drugs and firearms.

Police said Anan Sunhat, the 55-year-old chief of tambon Khlong Kanarn, Sanya Chaipim, 38, and Veerasak Songsaeng, 45, were charged with illegal possession of weapons and narcotics.
Police found an Uzi machine gun, two pistols and two grammes of crystal methamphetamine inside Mr Anan's house. Six shotguns, a machine gun, a pistol, two sets of body armour and ammunition were also discovered inside a worker's home.
Villagers told police that the village headman was allegedly involved with illegal drug activities, several murder cases, including the death of the tambon Khlong Whai chief, and property damage incidents.
Police will investigate to find out if the weapons were used in any of the crimes raised by the villagers.
