The demonstrators, led by Apisit Kanhiran, raised two demands - for the government to review a debt repayment moratorium plan and help solve their debt problems.
The demonstrators arrived at the scene by bus and personal vehicles and erected tents, blocking both in-bound and out-bound traffic lanes, causing a vehicle tailback along the highway stretching at least 10 kilometres.
Pol Maj-Gen Ong-art Phiewruangnont, the Nakhon Ratchasima police chief, was negotiating with the demonstrators.
