The video “Thai Red Cross Society does not accept gay’s blood”, posted to YouTube by a user named Zerravie, has sparked a heavy criticism of the Red Cross netizens for discriminating against gay men.
In the clip, three gay men blasted the Red Cross Society for classifying gay people as a HIV high risk group.
One of the men claimed to have been refused when he tried to donate blood. He said the officisl at the blood donation centre told him that the Thai Red Cross Society has no policy to accept blood from gay men.
One of the men in the video said they were disappointed and hurt about being discriminated against for who they are.
He said he and his friends planned another attempt to donate blood, and if rejected again they would file a complaint with the Administrative Court against the Thai Red Cross Society.
