Latvians caught using fake credit cards
Two Latvian men have been arrested in Bangkok for using fake credit cards to buy goods in department stores, according to Pol Col Archayon Kraithong, deputy chief of the Tourist Police.

He said the Tourist Police and Kasikornbank (KBank) worked together to track down the pair, identified as Arkadijs Artjuhs, 56, and Vladislavs Poplavskis, 53.
They were arrested after investigators received a report that two men were buying camera equipment with a fake credit card at Central Plaza Ladprao on Friday afternoon.
Police said the men arrived in Thailand six days ago, and had since carried out credit card transactions totalling 400,000 to 500,000 baht a day.
Police seized eight fake credit cards for accounts at foreign banks, eight camera flashes and a camera lens.
The two confessed that they used fake cards to buy camera equipment that they planned to sell quickly for cash, which would then be transferred to friends overseas.
They said the cards were for the accounts of customers in the United States because they were easy to falsify.
Pol Col Archayon said the pair had visited Thailand four to five times as tourists.
The Tourist Police have asked the Immigration Police to put the two Latvians on a blacklist and intend to find out if they have accomplices in Thailand, he added.
