Police committee to probe Tob Jote
The Royal Thai Police Office (RTPO) has set up a committee to look into the content of the Tob Jote political talk show series on the role of the monarchy in a democracy and the lese majeste law, to see if any part of it breached the law, police spokesman Pol Maj-Gen Piya Uthayo said on Thursday.

The series was aired on Thai PBS television from March 11-14, with the final discussion on March 18.
Pol Maj-Gen Piya said a preliminary examination of the show found that remarks made by some of the guest speakers on the fourth and fifth episodes, broadcast on March 14 and 18, might be construed as violating the Criminal Code.
Since the matter concerns national security and is in the interest of the people, the RTPO has set up a committee chaired by Pol Gen Chatchawal Suksomjit, a police adviser, to investigate.
Pol Lt-Gen Saritchai Anekwiang, the commissioner of the Special Branch Police, is the deputy chairman.
The committee comprises 50 investigators from the Legal Affairs Office, Metropolitan Police Bureau and Special Branch Bureau.
All police stations have been instructed to take any complaints which may be filed in connection with this case and report them to the investigation committee.
The committee is to report its progress to the RTPO every 30 days.
Pol Maj-Gen said people are warned to be careful when reposting remarks made by guest speakers on the programme, because they may also be at risk of breaching the law.
