On the “Yingluck Government Meets the People” weekly programme on NBT, Mr Pongsak insisted that there will be no problem of energy crisis even with the disruption of natural gas supply from Myanmar.
All related state agencies had prepared all needed measures for any possible situation, he added.
Suthus Pattamasiriwat, governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat), said on the same programme that he had a confidence that there will be no problem of brownout or blackout on April 9 and 10.
Mr Suthus said Egat had coordinated with the Federation of Thai Industries and manufacturers urging them to lower their electricity consumption.
The existing 2,400 megawatts reserve electricity is sufficient to serve demand for power of households and industry sector during the shortfall of natural gas supply from Myanmar, he added.
Myanmar has cut its natural gas supply to Thailand from Friday to April 14 as its Yadana gas field was shut down for maintenance.
