Sompong Promraksa, 49, was taking Aumporn Taweesuwan, 42, on a motorcycle on the Lamprai-Khok Pho Road in tambon Khok Pho when two gunmen approached them on another bike and the pillion rider shot at them with a .38 pistol.
Aumporn was shot twice in the chest and torso. She was later pronounced dead at a district hospital. A bullet grazed Mrs Sompong’s head, injuring her, Khok Pho district police chief Suchart Assawajindarat said.
The two were travelling in the wrong direction in a traffic lane when they were shot by the gunman.
Police inspecting the scene found a leaflet written in Thai that read: “A woman was arrested at Ban Kuan in tambon Na Pra Doo. Release her or we will harm Buddhist Thais. From Poo Kor Karn Dee.”
Poo kor karn dee in Engllsh likely means Samaritan. It is meant to be a parody of the expression “poo kor karn rai” in Thai, which in English means terrorist.
