Acid attack suspect surrenders
A fourth year university student who splashed another student with an acidic substance turned herself in at the Bang Yi Ruea police station in Bangkok, reports said on Thursday.

Kwanruedee Piersakul, 21, had acid splashed on her face near a convenience store on Issaraphap road in Thon Buri district on Tuesday night.
Hirunyathorn Prodsuwan, 24, admitted to the crime. She told police that the victim, who went to the same faculty, often glared and scoffed at her everytime they met.
The suspect said Ms Kwanruedee had also been disrespectful towards her on a social network for a year.
According to Ms Hirunyathorn's testimony, she was buying a bathroom cleaner with her friend at a convenience store on the day of the incident.
Ms Kwanruedee who was purchasing food at the same store, turned around and looked at them mockingly.
Ms Hirunyathorn confessed that she was upset and decided to squeeze the bathroom cleaner over the woman’s face and body.
According to a witness, Wilawan Kankaet, vendors and passers-by assisted the victim with water and took her to Siriraj Hospital.
The injured woman has recovered. She will undergo prolonged treatment to heal facial rashes caused by the acid, said Pol Maj Gen Rassadakorn Yingyong, chief of Metropolitan Police Region 8.
He said police will interrogate Ms Hirunyathorn again before charging her with assault.
