The 32-year-old woman, whose name was withheld, and her 13-year-old daughter yesterday went to the Paveena Hongsakula Foundation to seek help from the minister.
The mother said her daughter's 14-year-old friend, identified only as Nam, had encouraged her daughter to provide sex services to male customers.
Nam told her that selling sex was a quick way to earn cash for shopping.
Nam took her daughter to meet a 50-year-old woman, identified as Pa Rit, or Aunt Rit, who acted as a sex procurer in Sa Kaeo's Aranyaprathet district.
The mother said she took her daughter to inform Aranyaprathet police after learning of the scheme.
The police asked her daughter to help them in a sting operation to arrest Pa Rit and a potential customer. The mother and daughter agreed.
Pa Rit later contacted the daughter, asking her to meet a customer at a hotel in Aranyaprathet. After arriving at the hotel, the customer paid 1,000 baht to Nam and took her daughter to the room, the mother said.
Her daughter called her and she called the police who arrived to rescue the girl and arrest the man, who turned out to be a school director, the mother said.
Police arrested Suthep Somboonpong, 54, director of Ban Nong Hoi School in Watthana Nakhon district of Sa Kaeo province. He was released on bail after acknowledging the charges.
The mother said she feared for the safety of her family now that Mr Suthep is free. She said he and his wife gave them an angry look when he was taken to the police station.
Pol Lt Col Wiwat Pisitsak, deputy chief of Aranyaprathet police, said Mr Suthep was arrested on Friday and was charged with depriving an underage girl of her freedom for the purpose for having sex.
The suspect denied the charges and was released on bail. An arrest warrant has also been issued for Pa Rit.
Ms Paveena said she would work with Education Minister Chaturon Chaisaeng to take action against the school director.
Sa Kaeo police chief, Pol Maj Gen Uran Anekboon, said police are considering revoking Mr Suthep's bail and he could possibly face an additional charge of supporting human trafficking and the sex trade.
