Court refuses Euro 2012 rebroadcast rights injunction
The Civil Court on Friday rejected a petition to order Grammy to allow cable television operators to rebroadcast the Euro 2012 tournament, which ends on Sunday, July 1.

The case was filed against GMM Grammy and terrestrial channels 3, 5 and 9 by the hed of the Foundation for Consumers chief, Saree Aongsomwang, and five other plaintiffs.
The plaintiffs wanted the court to issue an injunction ordering GMMGrammy to allow all channels to air one of the world's most popular international football tournaments.
The court ruled that GMM Grammy is the sole authorised holder of broadcast rights for Euro 2012 matches in Thailand and therefore it has the right to block the signal.
If an injunction was issued against Grammy it might affect the country's credibility in the global community concerning intellectual property, the court said.
In addition, the court said, the majority of viewers can still watch the tournament via terrestrial, free-to-air broadcasts using conventional antennas.
The Union of European Football Associations (Uefa) might also revoke its contract with GMM Grammy if the injunction was issued, meaning viewers would be unable to watch the final on Sunday night.
It would also affect broadcasting rights for other sporting events in the future, the court added.
As a result, TrueVisions' cable TV customers will not be able unable to watch the Euro 2012 final between Italy and Spain on Sunday night.
