The board of Thai Airways International (THAI) has agreed on an employment package with new president Sorajak Kasemsuvan and the contract will be signed on Monday, chairman Ampon Kittiampon said on Friday.
Mr Ampon said after a board meeting that details of the contract with the new president had been thrashed out and both parties will be ready to put pen to paper on Oct 8.
The first meeting between the board and new president is scheduled for Oct 12, after he is officially employed.
The board members will discuss with him policy and the strategic plans to push THAI to be the leading airline in the region in a time of intense competition in the aviation industry from other carriers, Mr Ampon added.
Mr Ampon said the new president will be given a free hand in captaining the airline without interference from the board.
He will be given two quarters to run the airline before facing the first assessment of his performance in June next year, the chairman said. Mr Surajak's work will be evaluated every six months afterwards, he added.
