The Rights and Liberties Protection Department has given 103,000 baht to the teenage student who was the victim of a horrific assault, including having six fingers cut off, to help pay for medical bills and ongoing rehabilitation, a report said on Thursday.
Department director-general Pol Col Narat Sawettanan said the compensation was paid under the Granting of Compensation to Aggrieved Parties and the Accused in Criminal Cases Act (2001).
Bank, aged 16, whose full name was withheld, said he appreciated all the support he had been receiving and said the arrests of some of the students who attacked him would not have been possible without everyone's help.
