BEIJING - Security officials from China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand on Thursday said they planned to launch a joint campaign against drug production and trafficking along the Mekong river next month.
The campaign was designed to crack large-scale, transnational drug-trafficking cases, destroy cross-border drug-trafficking networks and manufacturing bases, and capture drug producers and traffickers, China's Ministry of Public Security said.
Police teams would aim to track the sources of precursor chemicals, cut the main manufacturing chains and "further curb drug sources in the Golden Triangle area", the ministry reported on its wesbite.
