Lese majeste convict Thanthawut Taweewarodomkul was freed from jail on Friday after being granted a royal pardon.

Thanthawut, 38, was a designer for the reputedly anti-monarchist Nor Por Chor USA website. He was sentenced to 13 years in jail in March 2011 for allowing comments deemed insulting to the monarchy to appear on the website.

The consecutive sentences consisted of 10 years for violating Section 112 of the Criminal Code and three years for violating the Computer Crimes Act.
