Riverside residents in Ayutthaya are facing a rise in the flood waters already blighting their communities, after the upper Chao Phraya dam in Chai Nat province released more water on Monday afternoon.
The dam has been releasing high levels of water for three days. Water volume released by the dam as of Monday 3pm had increased to 2,004 cubic metres per second, up from 1,900 cubic metres per second on Saturday.
Water levels in four rivers that pass through the central province - the Chao Phraya, Noi, Pa Sak and Lop Buri - will likely rise by at least 50cm in the next one or two days, the provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office warned.
