Myanmar border point to cost B800m

The government has allocated 800 million baht to upgrade and develop the Baan Phu Namron checkpoint in tambon Ban Kao of Kanchanaburi's Muang district and have it ready for Asean integration in 2015. 

Pol Capt Kamporn Musikphan, sub-inspector of Kanchanaburi immigration police, said around 1,000 rai of land was ready to be developed. Thammasat University is currently working on a feasibility study for the development of buildings and zones.

The checkpoint, which was upgraded to permanent status in 2012, will become the largest checkpoint in Thailand when the development is completed.
