The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department on Thursday issued a severe weather warning for people in nine provinces in the Central, East and South of the country.
The department’s director general Chatchai Promlert said there will be heavy rain in the three regions triggered by a depression in the South China Sea from Friday to Sunday, Nov 15-17.
Mr Chatchai warned that people living near hillsides and waterways in Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat should brace for heavy, rain, possible flash flooding, forest run-off and landslides during the period.
