The Supreme Court on Friday sentenced a man to death for treason, weapon procurement, battery with intent to kill and robbery, but reduced his punishment to life imprisonment for cooperating with police.

Rosdi Mayama, a motorbike mechanic from Narathiwat, had his punishment reduced for confessing at every stage of the legal process.

The defendant is a member of the Barisan Revolusi Nasional Melayu Patani (BRN-C) separatist group operating in Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, and Songkhla provinces.
